McCain squirms as he watches a recording of himself which contradicts his own socialist argument – this showdown takes place around 2nd and 3rd minutes in.
To John McCain $25 bn for car makers ~ is not corporate welfare – but a small drop in that bucket to the poorest workers – is a government hand out – is welfare. I think McCain has got a problem with small checks ~ he likes to write the big ones to the big boys. At least that’s the new John McCain – the old John McCain back in 2000 had a very different view:
Here’s a more complete clip on exactly what McCain believed back in 2000 about ‘spreading the wealth around’ to the middle class.

I now have a new found respect for Brokaw. Completely exposes McCain, and then McCain blabbers on completely deflated.

McCain even started to laugh – when the second video clip was about to be played – he knew what was coming – then we say a glimmer of his anger – and then a change of subject – he told Bush this or that!
Classic Meet the Press – just without Tim Russert !

Hopefully this election year marks the absolute end of the neocons as a force in politics. The fiscally conservative, civic minded, and constructive Republicans need to come out from hiding and take back their party. The country needs two varied philosophies to ensure new and different ideas are always debated for the good of the whole, long term. Yet what the country DOES NOT NEED is this divisive, fear and ignorance peddling machine that is the current Republican party. Use this time as an opportunity Republican party to get yourself together.
